Running For a Cancer Breakthrough

North West company, Seddon Group entered one of the largest corporate running teams in this years Great Manchester Run in support of The Christie and a ground breaking cancer treatment which is being developed at the South Manchester hospital.

30 Seddon employees took part in the 10kilometer race through the streets of Manchester city centre, collectively raising over 2,000 towards the companys two year target of 250,000 which is to be donated to The Christie during a long term charity partnership. Seddon Group is also The Christies corporate partner for their mass participation events for 2009/10.

The huge contribution is being provided in support of world leading research and development into the Magic Bullet cancer treatment which is being pioneered by The Christie. The Magic Bullet has proven to be a more accurate method of treating cancer hence its name and early trials carried out at The Christie in Manchester on patients with lymphoma cancers and leukaemia have produced remarkable results.

Joining over 33,000 other keen athletes and fun-runners, Vanessa Barlow, one of the Seddon Group Charity Champions commented: This has been such a fantastic event and we really have been proud to take part and also have such a presence for The Christie. Our charity partnership has got off to an excellent start and Seddon employees from across the company trained hard for the run.

In just five months, nearly 70,000 has been raised towards our target and the figure increases daily. With the company aiming to match pound for pound all funds raised by the employees, were confident we will reach 250,000 over the next two years.
