Background
Dating back to 1291, St Marys church was in need of some internal redecoration and repairs and Seddon was tasked with completing this within a limited time frame and budget. As the church remained open and functional, Seddon also had to complete the work with as little disruption as possible.
Project
Seddon carried out internal refurbishment to the main church including repairs to lime mortar render. Using birdcage scaffolding and adapted towers, the team was able to undertake the project with minimal disruption to services.
After considering traditional lime coating, it was decided Tor Coatings Classidor Tradition was a better preservative of the structure, offering a similar finish over decades of lime washes.
During the project, the Seddon team also discovered a carving by the original craftsmen in the rafters. With the application of the specialist Tor coating, Seddon ensured this unique and priceless piece of craftsmanship would remain a very significant part of the church for many more generations.

Endorsement
Following a friends recommendation, we appointed Seddon and have been thoroughly impressed by their quality and professionalism. Having worked in the building trade all my life, I appreciate the technical issues facing such ecclesiastical projects and am delighted with the end result."
