Background
The Seddon Group is passionate about finding and nurturing young talent, which is the role of Training Manager Roy Cavanagh.
Project
Chair of the North West Skills Observatory, three Construction Partnerships and a Government careers initiative, Roy works hard to raise the profile of the industry amongst younger generations, as well as promote it as a career of choice.
Endorsement
Roy says, "Seddon has been investing in training for over 50 years and remains committed to offering high level apprenticeship programmes. Each year we receive over 400 letters from young people wanting the opportunity to learn with us, testament to the reputation we have achieved within the industry. But in order to address the skills shortage, the industry needs to work hard to offer more opportunities like our training programme."
"As a leader within this area, Seddon has been approached by many organisations to offer advice on how and why we have been so successful in our training. In addition, we have been asked for our input into industry events in order to encourage more companies to offer such schemes to youngsters."
"I think it's vital that we continue to entice people into an industry that's crying out for home-grown talent. This is why I enjoy my role at Seddon so much as I know we are making a solid contribution to the future of our younger generation and the industry as a whole."
