Background
The Weaste Estate in Salford is in the middle of a major 2 million facelift - thanks to a ground-breaking initiative.
The scheme is one of the first under a ground-breaking partnering arrangement between Salford City Council, The Seddon Group and Cruden Construction Ltd. The two contractors will administer Salford City Council construction contracts worth between 500,000 and 5 million.
The new partnering arrangement is designed to deliver improvement work over a five-year period.
Project
The refurbishment work includes door and window repairs, guttering, pointing and brickwork repairs, brickwork cleaning and boundary wall replacement across the estate, along with external painting. Funding comes from Housing Market Renewal Fund grants and Salford City Council.
Endorsement
"Weaste will benefit enormously from this comprehensive refurbishment. We hope that by giving the properties a completely fresh look we'll give the whole area a lift in a way that will benefit residents and people passing through."
"The innovative partnership that has made this scheme possible will deliver extremely good value for money, and will help complete higher quality work on similar schemes now and in the future."
Councillor Peter Connor, Salford City Council's lead member for housing
