What you’ll do

  • Construct masonry structures in brick and block.
  • Construct cavity wall structures, block work and solid wallstructures.
  • Form door and window openings and joint finishes.
  • Set out and build structures accurately from site drawings.
  • Connect and build manholes and drainage streams.
  • Use various tools and brick-cutting machines to cut and shapebricks (once competent).
  • Construct arches and ornamental brickwork.
  • Liaise and work with all other trades as required.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare and clean surfaces using methods such as scrapingand sanding; remove old wallpaper and loose paint; repaircracks and holes in walls and joinery by applying fillers/sealant.
  • Prepare/sand surface for application of decorative product.
  • Applying protective and decorative coats of paint, varnish,lacquer and/or other related materials to interior and exteriorsurfaces of the buildings, furniture, equipment and otherstructures ensuring compliance with hazardous materialsguidelines.
  • Apply paint or other materials, such as stains, lacquer, enamel,oil, varnish, metal coating or fire retardant using brushes,rollers or spray equipment.
